Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Today morning, the city woke up to a surprisingly mild 20°C, making light jackets feel almost unnecessary during the day. Across south Bengal districts, the mercury climbed even higher in some places, pushing minimum temperatures close to 15°C and wiping away the crisp bite that had settled in just days ago. Mornings and evenings still carry a gentle cool touch, but by afternoon the sun feels more like early autumn than December. The good news for cold lovers is that this warm spell is only a short guest.
As per reports, a fresh wave of north-westerly winds will start flowing in from Wednesday, slowly pulling the temperature down. Over the next three to four days, the mercury is expected to drop by 2 to 5 degrees across the region. By weekend Friday and Saturday, Kolkata could dip to around 15°C and western districts might even touch 11-12°C – perfect timing for weekend bonfires and hot jhal-muri under blankets. Thick fog is also likely to return, especially along the coast, where visibility could fall to just 200 metres in patches, so drivers are being asked to stay careful on early morning roads.
Up in north Bengal, the hills of Darjeeling continue to enjoy proper winter at 7°C, while plains like Malda stay comfortable with no big changes coming. Dry weather will rule everywhere, and no rain is expected to spoil the mood. So enjoy today’s unexpected warmth while it lasts because real winter is packing its bags and heading back by the weekend!
